Hey Mama,
I knew beforehand that I wouldn’t be able to be around the phone today - I was in the kitchen working at 6:45 and got out a little after 8 - so I asked Sae to guard the phone and tell you to call tomorrow at like, 10PM. Unfortunately, she came upon a rare occasion - someone was on the phone! She was excited at the thought of speaking to you…But, oh well.
Kitchen duties are tough but I’ve made some connections. I’ve been told that I was “the only hope” out of the work-study people. We were one man down today though and things didn’t operate as smoothly; I was stuck on pots, (I’ve never done pots), and the broken sink was flooding. Disaster!…But I suspect that my boss didn’t hold it against me because I’m a hard worker and am usually the first one to arrive on scene, often early.
Anyway….This class session is totally different than the last. I love those people from Ladydrawers - they kind of taught me to be a better person in some way that I can’t articulate at this moment. They were amazing but I’m trying to get into the swing of things here. I think it’ll be okay - just different. FIRST SESSION: Class with rough and tumble twenty-somethings trying to change the world VS. SECOND SESSION: Class with established art teachers/professionals content with their place in it, learning new techniques for the heck of it. Eh. I’ll learn valued things for sure but it won’t be nearly as exciting or prolific. (It’s funny how fucking wrong all of this is, coming from the other end of it now).
Also, I need like 40-60 bucks for living expenses and to pay back one of my teachers for extra wood blocks he had and gave to me - I’m on “the tab”. It’s not as serious as it sounds, they’re both very nice. (Really, I just owe him a beer).
